HO-scale motive power of the BNSF

Brief history of the BNSF

"It was on September 22, 1995 when Burlington Northern Inc. and Santa Fe Pacific Corporation merged and became Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation. Their respective railroad company subsidiaries were the Burlington Northern Railroad and the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway.
These remained separate entities and scheduled to merge into a single subsidiary called the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway at a later date. In the interim, both railroads would merge their facilities, operations and systems in preparation for that event.
That event took place on December 31, 1996 and the "BN" and "Santa Fe" formally passed into history, adding to the long list of fallen flag railroads."

HO-scale motive power

The following pages present a list of diesel locomotives of the BNSF and its predecessors, AT&SF, BN, CB&Q, GN, NP, SLSF and SP&S, HO-scale reproduced by three manufacturers of railroad models, ATLAS, KATO and Life-Like Products/PROTO 2000 Series.
The history of the prototype is given for each model and a photograph of the model and its prototype are sometimes available. As you will be able to note, the same prototype could be reproduced in different paint schemes and/or numbering, which is a pity given the number of sites covering the topic.

Special thanks to Charles H. Biel whose work enabled me to carry out the following tables.
Most of the prototype photographs are visible on his site BNSF Photo Archive.
